Fast- forward 30 years and The Taste of Tasmania festival is the largest and most significant food and wine festival in the state of Tasmania. (It's also the largest festival of its kind in Australia). Owned, managed and delivered by the City of Hobart. In 2017, there were over 220,000 people through the gates; 16,000 unique International visitors and 13,000 unique visitors from Interstate attending 'The Taste'
Featuring a vibrant program of emerging and established live music across 4 stages in addition to a newly improved food and beverage program, this positive success has paved the way forward for a positive and eagerly anticipated 30th Birthday.
In 2018, we are preparing for the biggest Taste festival yet. Celebrations begin on Friday 28th December until Thursday 3rd January (inclusive). Entry is completely FREE from 11am - 11pm with the exception of New Year's Eve, which is ticketed and a significant revenue stream for the festival.
In 2018, there will also be a culinary kitchen program housed in an industrial, commercial kitchen.
The Culinary kitchen program proudly promotes the Tasmanian food and beverage landscape. Featuring over 20 Chefs, cooks and leading, influential people that have been part of the Tasmanian success story. This program featuring workshops, demonstrations, exclusive hands-on cooking classes and dining events is focused on creating a platform for the community to be part of their story.
