Newstead College is a senior secondary school for students in Years 11 and 12. Established in 1997, it has modern classrooms, excellent specialist teaching areas, and industry-standard workshops. Our facilities include an extensive wired and wireless computer network, photography and art suites, gym, tennis courts and oval, auditorium, recording and dance studios, industrial kitchen, a fully equipped hair salon, woodwork facilities, a construction workshop, well-equipped science laboratories and modern library and study facilities. The friendly size of the College ensures all students have the opportunity to work in smaller classes with highly skilled teachers. Our curriculum and pedagogy is of the highest quality to maximise academic and social success for every student. Our teaching focuses on the individual and all students are expected to strive for excellence. Our student support and transition programs are inclusive of all students’ needs, ensuring students have access to relevant information in a supported adult learning environment. We place emphasis on both academic and vocational pathways and liaise closely with the University of Tasmania and industry. Many students combine academic subjects with a vocational program. Our experienced enrolment counselors work with students to select a two-year course which will provide opportunities for future careers and aspirations.
