The Examiner is the daily newspaper of the city of Launceston and north-eastern Tasmania, Australia. The Examiner Newspaper is Tasmania's oldest newspaper. It is located in Launceston and was first published in 1842. It is part of the Fairfax Media organisation and publishes seven days a week. The Examiner Newspaper is Australia's third-oldest surviving daily newspaper after the Sydney Morning Herald and the Geelong Advertiser. As The Launceston Examiner, Commercial and Agricultural Advertiser, it was first published on Saturday, March 12, 1842. In 1857, The Examiner moved to purpose-built offices in Paterson Street, Launceston. On May 25, 2015, The Examiner moved to its current home at Cimitiere House in Launceston.
