About

St Brendan-Shaw College is a Catholic, co-educational, secondary school welcoming students from the North West region centred on Devonport. As a school that caters for year 7 through to year 12 studies, we are able to provide a seamless academic transition across the full spectrum of secondary education while encouraging social and leadership development. The college is located on James Street, Devonport on approximately 7 hectares. Catholic Education began on the site in 1960 when the Christian Brothers commenced St Brendan’s College for Boys. In 1969 Shaw College for Girls opened on the same site. St Brendan-Shaw College amalgamated in 1981, and the first post-year-10 classes started in 1990. The College provides quality education programs underpinned by the Melbourne Declaration of Educational Goals of Young Australians 2008. Curriculum is delivered through the Tasmanian Certificate of Education, the Australian Curriculum and Australian Skills Qualification Authority. The College also delivers a Religion Studies Curriculum, with a Reflection Day program to support this. St Brendan-Shaw College’s vision is to be a vibrant Catholic Community of people with a generosity of the human spirit. In this spirit of human generosity, we strive to: do our best, be safe and welcome diversity. The Prefects of 2019 welcome you to St Brendan Shaw College; a school where students are encouraged to do their best, be safe, and welcome diversity. We believe that these core goals provide students with a sense of pride and community in all aspects of school life. The College continues to create an enjoyable and positive learning environment for all students in Years 7 to 12, helping them to develop and achieve a strong work ethic.
